Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has participated in 53 deals since February 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten from a working-class Irish Catholic family.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next during Corcoran’s childhood. In times, her family relied upon deliveries of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who drank occasionally and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled at school and later learned that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic primary school within her area and started the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and graduated as a D student.
